According to the Daily Star, both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Manchester United’s Eric Bailly in the January transfer window.

Bailly has endured a torrid time at Old Trafford so far this season, encapsulated by the fact he was hauled off by Jose Mourinho after just 19 minutes against Newcastle United last time out. It would therefore be unsurprising if the Red Devils opted to cash in on the 24-year-old centre-back in the winter window.

Arsenal themselves would be wise to add a top centre-back to their ranks in January but ought to avoid Bailly at all costs. The Ivory Coast international has struggled to cope with the demands of the top end of the Premier League.

The Gunners need an authoritative, reliable leader. Bailly is not that figure and is therefore not the man who Unai Emery should be looking to bring to the Emirates Stadium.
