HYS: Should Shkodran Mustafi be dropped by Arsenal for Liverpool clash?

Arsenal have one of their biggest tests of the season so far coming up on Saturday when they’ll entertain unbeaten Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium. In the likes of Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette the Gunners certainly have the quality up front to hurt the Reds.

However, they’ll be relying upon their defence to keep Liverpool’s fearsome attack out to give them any chance of a positive result. The Arsenal backline will have to be at the top of their game, and an injury-hit squad could present Unai Emery with plenty of selection dilemmas ahead of the match.

One area in which he must make some big decisions, though not due to injury concerns, is in the heart of his defence. With Sokratis now back to full fitness, the Spanish coach has to choose his centre-back pairing from the Greek international, Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi.

Mustafi has been in poor form recently, and made a howling error against Crystal Palace last time out. The 26-year-old Germany international has been a liability at the back for Arsenal for a long time and the Gunners cannot afford to have such an unreliable figure in their rearguard when they face Liverpool.

To stand any chance of victory on Saturday, Mustafi must be consigned to the bench.

What do you think, Arsenal fans – should Mustafi start against Liverpool?
