Aaron Ramsey’s representatives have stated that the midfielder ‘didn’t want to leave’ Arsenal, but that ‘the club have made a decision’ and the 55-cap Wales international now has ‘no other option’ but to seek pastures new, as reported by Football 365.

This is the first time that Ramsey’s representatives have addressed the situation. Last week, the BBC reported that the Gunners had withdrawn their contract offer to the 27-year-old despite an agreement having apparently been reached.

The North London club are now likely to lose Ramsey as a free agent at the end of the season, unless they can offload him in January. In either case, this looks set to be the Welshman’s final campaign at the Emirates Stadium, bringing an end to his 11-year stay with the club.

Having been an integral figure for much of his time at Arsenal, and having even scored two FA Cup final winning goals, Ramsey has certainly made his mark at the club and many fans will be sad to see him go. However, they should also view this decision as a welcome act of bold ruthlessness and a chance for the club to continue their rebuild under new boss Unai Emery.

What do you think, Arsenal fans - do you think the club have made the right call in withdrawing their contract offer to Ramsey?
