According to reports on Mexican website Super Deportivo, Arsenal are prepared to pay €48m (approximately £42.4m) to sign PSV Eindhoven forward Hirving Lozano, who has scored 10 goals in 15 Eredivisie games this season.
Well, Super Deportivo says that despite the fact the Mexico international only joined PSV on a six-year deal during the summer, the Gunners are ready to offer them double what they paid for the 22-year-old following an impressive start to his career for the Dutch outfit.
Super Deportivo says that it is unclear whether a deal would go through in January or after the World Cup if it was to happen, but the north London want to seal a move as soon as possible, especially with doubts over the futures of contract rebels Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
He has been excellent.
The 22-year-old winger has scored 10 goals and provided a further six assists in 15 Eredivisie games this term, although his form has dropped in recent weeks following an outstanding start to the campaign.
According to Squawka, the Mexican attacker has created 27 chances, won 37 fouls and successfully completed 27 of the 50 take-ons he has attempted, and it is no surprise that he is catching the eye of the likes of Arsenal.
He certainly would be.
It is looking more and more likely that Sanchez will leave the Emirates either in January or next summer, and Arsene Wenger will be looking for a replacement for the Chilean.
Considering Lozano can play on either wing and has similar attributes to the 29-year-old, he could prove to be the perfect addition for the north London outfit.
When you look at his statistics and performances this season it is no surprise that Arsenal are keen to get a deal sorted before the World Cup next summer, where his price tag could increase even more.
If Wenger loses Sanchez he will know that he needs to bring in a top-class replacement in order to appease the fans, and those supporters will want to see the club splash the cash to make sure they get the right man.
Arsenal showed they aren’t afraid to spend with the addition of Alexandre Lacazette in the summer, and they must do the same for Lozano.
