According to Spanish media outlet AS, reported Arsenal target Steven N'Zonzi could be on his way out of Sevilla after falling out with manager Eduardo Berizzo.

What's the word, then?

Well, The Sun says that the Gunners were keen on the former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City man during the summer transfer window, but no move materialised with AS reporting that no interested party was willing to meet the 28-year-old's €40m (approximately £35.3m right now) release clause.

Now AS says that the Frenchman could leave the La Liga side after reacting angrily to be taken off at half-time in the 3-3 draw against Liverpool in the Champions League last month, believing that fellow midfielder Guido Pizarro should have been replaced instead.

AS adds that the midfielder then missed training the next day to throw his future with the club into doubt.

How has he done this season?

Prior to the incident against Liverpool, the France international had made 15 appearances in all competitions, and showcased why he is so highly-rated.

According to Squawka, the 28-year-old has a passing accuracy of 90% in 10 La Liga outings this term, while he has made 11 interceptions and nine clearances.

The fact that he has successfully completed three of three take-ons he has attempted shows how comfortable he is on the ball, while he has also won 29 of the 38 aerial duels he has contested.

Would Arsenal still want him?

It's difficult to say.

While Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka have done well in a central midfield pivot in recent weeks, the Gunners still don’t have that powerful and strong player in the middle of the park that you need in some matches.

While Francis Coquelin can play that role and sit in front of the defence when required, there is no doubt that his fellow Frenchman N'Zonzi would be an upgrade.

What's the verdict, then?

Well, it remains to be seen whether N’Zonzi and Berizzo make up in the next few weeks, but if they don’t then Sevilla could be forced to sell the 28-year-old in January.

Whether Wenger would be willing to make a move for the midfielder then remains to be seen, with having to potentially replace Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez being more of a pressing matter.
