Arsenal fans haven't had a lot to shout about their own team this season but Newcastle vs Chelsea threw up a pleasant and somewhat unexpected surprise for some supporters.

The game looked like it would end up being a dead rubber until Isaac Hayden popped up at the back post to head in a last-minute winner for the Magpies, a goal which signalled Chelsea's first defeat in five matches.

Naturally, as rivals with the Blues, several Arsenal fans have taken delight in not only the fact that they lost, but that their former player - and an academy product at that - was the man to deal them a killer blow.

After drawing at home to Sheffield United it has boosted the spirits of fans, and some have been keen to express their delight on social media.

Hayden departed North London in 2015 and it is fair to say that he hasn't often got on the scoresheet since then, with just four goals for the Magpies in his 116 appearances for the club.

Nevertheless, the fact he has been such a regular in a Premier League side is testament to the Arsenal academy, particularly Arsene Wenger who likely played a role in his development.

Some supporters have mentioned their former manager and credited him for Hayden producing the goods on Saturday, praising his decision to sell the 24-year-old, as it has ultimately produced a great result.

Elsewhere, one Arsenal player has been talked about by a pundit following his display against the Blades on Saturday.
