As reported by The Mirror, Arsenal are interested in signing Napoli midfielder Jorginho during this summer’s transfer window.
This summer is one of massive transition at the Emirates Stadium after the departure of long-serving manager Arsene Wenger.
The yet to be determined new boss at the club has his work cut out turning the remaining squad into one capable of competing for major honours.
One player that could be set for an arrival is Napoli man Jorginho, according to The Mirror.
The paper say he is one of two midfield priority targets, alongside Nice’s Jean Michael Seri.
Jorginho is rated as worth £36m by Transfermarkt.
With over 150 appearances for Napoli, Jorginho is seen as one of the Italian club’s most important players and his form this season has helped them to finish just four points behind league winners Juventus, qualifying for the UEFA Champions League once again.
An all-rounder who can defend and move the ball forward into the final third, he could be an ideal accompaniment to the likes of Granit Xhaka or Aaron Ramsey, certainly having the credentials and experience after four-and-a-half seasons at Napoli.
The Arsenal midfield is in dire need of fresh ideas and adding new competition to the area could inspire the existing players at the club to improve themselves.
At 26 years of age, he’s coming into his prime and spending the money to tie him down to his best years at the Emirates Stadium could be an inspired bit of business from the Gunners.
