Riyad Mahrez was one of many players linked with a move to Arsenal in recent years.

After helping Leicester City pull off a huge shock by winning the Premier League title in 2015-16, the winger has been touted as a transfer target for many top clubs.

The Foxes have held firm in the last could of seasons, but they finally relinquished their hold on the Algerian and sanctioned a move to Manchester City on Tuesday.

According to BBC Sport, the reigning English champions parted with £60m, breaking their club record, to sign Mahrez, who will earn £200,000-a-week.

Given the quality in Pep Guardiola's team, one could argue that the 27-year-old will have to fight for his place in the setup, despite making the winger their most expensive signing to date.

Arsenal have been busy in the transfer window having signed four players already, but some of their fans have been left disappointed that the club did not reignite interest in Mahrez.

Others are baffled by the sum that City paid to land the 2015-16 PFA Player of the Year.
