According to reports from the London Evening Standard, Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny took part in training today – suggesting he could start their Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain tomorrow evening.
The France international scored a stunning bicycle kick to draw the Gunners level against Southampton in an eventual 2-1 win on Saturday, following an early own goal from Petr Cech.
However, he was later kicked in the face whilst defending a corner and underwent a medical examination after the Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsene Wenger later described the centre-back’s face as very swollen, casting doubts over whether he’d be able to feature against PSG just three days after picking up the injury.
The news is a massive boost to Arsenal’s hopes of claiming a positive result at the Parc de Princes to kick off their 2016/17 Champions League campaign.
Fellow centre-backs Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista are already sidelined whilst Calum Chambers has left the club on loan, meaning Wenger would’ve had summer signings Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding as his only recognised options at the heart of defence.
