South American starlet Matias Vargas has revealed he would choose Arsenal over other European giants in comments made to Argentine television.

The 21-year-old explained that his father influenced him to follow the Gunners and he 'likes the identity' of the North London side, while also reportedly being told by Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero there is a 'beautiful atmosphere' at the club.

Capable of playing centrally or wide on the left, Matias Vargas could be considered by Arsenal as an option to bolster their ranks in the wide positions following the loss of Alexis Sanchez in January - as that exit left the Gunners lacking depth.

Valued at £8.1m by Transfermarkt, Vargas is an affordable option for Arsenal to consider and would allow head of recruitment Sven Mislintat to surprise Gunners fans again with another youngster signing, as he already has previously with Matteo Guendouzi.
