Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin is statistically the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League, according to reports in the Metro.
The 24-year old destroyer impressed during his side’s 2-0 victory over Stoke City yesterday, with the Frenchman now leading the way in terms of tackles made at this stage of the season.
Since coming into first team contention at the turn of the year, following a loan to League One side Charlton Athletic, manager Arsene Wenger has deployed him as a holding midfielder.
The Gunners have often been accused of lacking much of a physical presence over the past few years, but the stats seem to indicate that Coquelin has changed that.

19 tackles won during the opening six games of the season is the highest of any player in the same role.
The former French youth international has previously spent time on loan at Lorient and Freiburg SC after joining the North London side in 2008 as a youth player.
