“Not Arsenal quality”, “He’d be class” – Arsenal fans divided on move for Andre Gomes

Arsenal fans on Twitter are hugely divided over the rumours that the club are interested in signing Andre Gomes after the Europa League final.

The Barcelona midfielder is set to permanently depart the Nou Camp this summer for a fee of €30m (£26.5m) with Arsenal and West Ham eyeing up a deal, according to RAC1 journalist Gerard Romero.

Gomes initially signed for the Spanish champions in the summer of 2016 but endured a torrid time with the Blaugrana, even winning the ignominious award of “worst signing of the season,” as voted by Marca readers.

A loan spell with Everton saw the 25-year old re-establish himself as a competent central midfielder, making 27 Premier League appearances in a respectable season under Marco Silva.

Now, however, with his loan stint at Goodison Park over, the door is open for Arsenal to pounce – although Gunners fans are divided over the prospective deal.
