Arsenal’s future seems to hinge on whether they can persuade Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to extend their deals, with the club’s two most expensive signings entering the final 18 months of their contracts, and it’s left Gooners twitching with nerves.
Whilst fans breathed a sign of relief earlier this season when Hector Bellerin ended speculation on his future by penning a new deal, Arsenal will hope their two key-players quickly follow suit in a piece of business that would bolster the club’s competitiveness in the coming years.
So far, there has only been murmurs on the future of the two players but some good news has been passed the way of the North London giants, with the club’s general secretary hinting towards a positive outcome. Speaking to BT Sport, he said:
“Of course, we know talks are ongoing with certain players and certain contracts. At the moment, things are looking pretty good in that way.”
Although the nerves will remain until an official extension is confirmed, it’s a promising sign for Arsenal and hopefully an outcome will be secured soon.
