Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is struggling with pain in his ankle caused by screws and could have to undergo another operation.
Wilshere had screws inserted into his ankle to aid his recovery after suffering a serious injury in 2011 but they are now causing him pain and another operation could be needed in the summer.
The midfielder has been suffering from inflammation in his ankle and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger decided to start him on the bench during Saturday’s win over Fulham.
Wilshere will be able to see the season out but the Gunners will want the problem sorting in the close season and an operation looks to be on the cards.
Gunners team-mate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain said: “The news is it’s not too bad, he’s just getting a bit of pain in his ankle from a few screws. If you bounce back from what he did you can bounce back from anything.”
