Arsenal's game against Chelsea didn't quite go according to plan when Shkodran Mustafi's individual error led to David Luiz's sending off in the first-half.

Jorginho's cool penalty saw Arsenal under the cosh and fighting once again against a side they haven't beaten on the road since 2011.

But the Gunners showed renewed fight and attitude to eventually come away with a 2-2 draw, twice coming from behind.

Gabriel Martinelli showed extreme composure to score Arsenal's first, before Hector Bellerin's left-footed effort sealed a point late on.

Mikel Arteta's men managed just two shots in the entire match and a large part of that was down to the lack of end product from record-signing Nicolas Pepe.

He received pelters on Twitter for his performance, with some even comparing him to a former Gunner. Given his return in the final third this season, those similarities are more than understandable. Pepe has scored just five times since his arrival in north London.

Against Chelsea, meanwhile, the Ivorian failed to muster a single shot or key pass.

There were further comparisons with Alex Iwobi, a player who was sold for £40m to Everton last summer by Unai Emery.

Pepe has yet to really hit the ground running since coming to the club, amassing six goal contributions in the league. However, his remarkable dribbling ability has been a highlight - racking up three per game in 2019/20.

That tally is streets ahead of what Iwobi ever reached in his time at Arsenal - registering 1.3 in his final league campaign at the Emirates. Despite that, one supporter was still crying out for the Nigerian winger to return.

Perhaps the harshest of criticisms was a tweet comparing Pepe to Yaya Sanogo. The French striker endured a torrid time in north Lonon where he scored just once in 20 competitive outings.

A player not known for his ability to finish, this was a frank assessment of someone who continues to stutter in the red and white of Arsenal.

Further supporters simply labelled him terrible while also slamming the £72m that the Arsenal hierarchy spent on his acquisition last summer.

Against Chelsea, Pepe had a woeful pass success rate of 66.7%, while he lost possession twice and also had two unsuccessful touches.
