Denis Suarez appeared a player Unai Emery was desperate to get at Arsenal. The transfer saga continued for the whole of the January transfer window, right until the announcement on deadline day when the Gunners finally got their man.

It seemed a no-brainer, with Emery having worked with the Spaniard in his time at Sevilla, and the pair having an understanding of each other from years ago. Unfortunately though, it's not worked out that way.

Suarez made his debut from the bench in a 3-1 defeat at Manchester City and hasn't started a single game for Gunners in his time on loan. As the second half of the season went on, Suarez made fewer substitute appearances, and has recently been left out altogether.

The Spaniard took to Twitter to announce his departure, explaining that a recurring groin injury has kept him out of the squad and that he won't be fit to see out the rest of the season, meaning he is due to leave the Gunners and return to parent club Barcelona.

The deal will surely remind fans of Kim Kallstrom's loan move to North London, where he similarly spent his time battling injuries, though he did make one start and even scored an FA Cup semi-final penalty.
