When Danny Welbeck left Manchester United to join rivals Arsenal in the summer of 2014, the hope was that the Gunners had landed a versatile forward with a pretty good scoring record at international level - 16 goals in 42 games.

The 28-year-old's career at both clubs has been blighted by injuries unfortunately, and just when he seemed to find a bit of rhythm and form under Unai Emery earlier this season, he was struck down with a serious ankle injury.

Having failed to make his comeback before the end of the campaign, Welbeck was unsurprisingly one of a number of players let go by the Gunners at the expiration of his contract.

The snap led to some of his Arsenal and Three Lions teammates to leave their replies and share their approval of the picture.

Since the confirmation of his impending departure, Welbeck has seen his name linked with a host of clubs including interest from rival Premier League teams - most notably Wolves, West Ham and Everton.
