Petr Cech, like Arsene Wenger, is a Premier League legend whose best years are behind him.

The former Chelsea goalkeeper's peak is a slightly larger spec in the rear-view mirror than his manager's are but there can be no disputing that either is the force that they once were.

Cech was meant to be the man who finally solved the goalkeeping conundrum at the Emirates. It didn't matter that he was 33 by the time he arrived because goalkeepers can play until the age of 40, as Gianluigi Buffon is proving now.

As it panned out, Arsenal fans now long for Wojciech Szczesny.
