Nacho Monreal was a rare shining light in Arsenal's ramshackled defence in Arsene Wenger's final year in charge, but has reportedly attracted interest from his native Spain this summer.

Real Sociedad are reportedly interested in bringing the experienced left-back back to his home country, despite him being a regular for the Gunners last term.

However, there is an argument that suggests letting Monreal leave would allow new Gunners boss Unai Emery to add a younger, quicker, more powerful left-back to his ranks and the fact that the defender only has one year left on his current deal at the Emirates only serves to add weight to that.

On the other hand, Monreal is a popular figure and consistent performer, who has become a wily Premier League defender, using his nous to overcome his relative lack of stature to become one of the best players in the league in his role.
