Eddie Nketiah made his first start of the season – and the Unai Emery era – on Thursday night in Kiev when Arsenal took on Vorskla Poltava in the Europa League.
Despite the freezing conditions, the 19-year-old striker produced a magnificent display. Nketiah was an all-action presence on the pitch, constantly harrying opposition defenders and looking to make something happen whenever he got on the ball.
Were it not for one or two uncharacteristically poor finishes, the England under-21 international may well have added to his two senior career goals as well.
With Danny Welbeck having been ruled out with a long-term injury, there is an opportunity for Eddie Nketiah to step up at the Emirates Stadium and play a greater role for the Gunners. He showed on Thursday that he is ready for that progression.
Plenty of Arsenal fans agree that the youngster should now be promoted, with 90% of those who took part in our poll voting in favour of Nketiah playing a bigger part in the squad under Emery. See the full results below.
