It's been an interesting season at Arsenal.

A few weeks ago, Arsene Wenger's side appeared the likeliest to challenge Chelsea at the Premier League's summit, but consecutive 2-1 defeats to Everton and Manchester City have revived age-old jibes of the Gunners capitulating just when things start to get serious in the title race.

Nonetheless, the north Londoners have put in a number of impressive performances this season, not least including their 3-0 demolition of the league-leading Blues in September, and some of their stars are certainly delivering.

With 17 games somehow already gone, we asked Arsenal fans earlier this week to vote for their Player of the Season so far in FootballFanCast's exclusive poll.

Well, the votes have all been counted and we can now reveal who took the title, alongside the two runners up. Before we get started, however, we can tell you club-record signing Mesut Ozil didn't make the top three!

3. Laurent Koscielny

He's one of the first names on the teamsheet nowadays and Arsenal fans have been impressed with Laurent Koscielny's performances once again this season.

The Frenchman's been as consistent as ever at the back, averaging 1.5 tackles, 2.8 interceptions, 6.3 clearances and 4.1 successful aerial duels-per-match in the Premier League. Of course, finding a reliable partner in Shkodran Mustafi has been a massive bonus, which brings us nicely onto...

2. Shkodran Mustafi

He seems like the sturdy, old-fashioned centre-back Arsenal have needed for an eternity, and since arriving from Valencia during the summer he's slotted in perfectly alongside Koscielny.

The two defenders have already forged an incredibly solid partnership and it's rather telling that Arsenal's four defeats of the season thus far have been in the absence of the Germany international. Currently sidelined through injury, Wenger will be hoping he returns to fitness as soon as possible.

1. Alexis Sanchez

Who else but Alexis? The former Barcelona star's talent has never been in doubt but he's seemingly found a higher gear this term, thoroughly excelling in the central striker role. Indeed, the Chilean is second in the top flight scoring charts, his twelve-goal haul only bettered by Chelsea's Diego Costa, and has also weighed in with six assists, making him Arsenal's top scorer and top provider in the Premier League. Sensational stuff from the South American - Gunners fans will be hoping he finally puts pen to paper amid an ongoing contract saga.
