Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has been waiting in the wings to get his chance in between the sticks.
After moving to the Emirates from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, the 26-year-old knew that he would have to dislodge experienced Petr Cech.
At the moment, the former Chelsea shot-stopper is winning the fight as he has been selected to start every one of Arsenal’s four Premier League games.
However, manager Unai Emery likes to play out from the back and Cech has shown, particularly against Cardiff City at the weekend, that he is not natural with the ball at his feet.
With the international break now in full swing, Emery will have a chance to assess his options ahead of the league’s return on September 15.
Arsenal are due to take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park, and ahead of that fixture we asked you if the goalkeepers should be switched, and the outcome was telling.
