Highly-rated Russian talent Igor Diveev has admitted he is flattered by interest from Arsenal, according to quotes from Metro.
Although the transfer window has been shut for a number of weeks, Arsenal are continuing their activity on the market as Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat eyes deals for some stars of the future – and his head has been turned by a Russian talent.
Reports from The Mirror earlier this week stated that Arsenal have been closely monitoring 18-year-old FC Ufa defender Igor Diveev after his impressive performances at the prestigious COTIF youth tournament.
The starlet could be approached by Arsenal for a potential future move and is quoted by Metro as admitting he is flattered by interest from the Gunners, although he insists there has not been a concrete offer yet.
“I read about all this on the internet before the match with Dinamo. Of course, the attention of such a club is pleasant, but I do not know anything concrete yet.”
Arsenal pride themselves on the development of young talent and their defence certainly needs more work, although the Gunners are crying out for experience rather than the addition of another young talent – as they already have Rob Holding, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Calum Chambers on their books.

With Laurent Koscielny sidelined through injury and first-choice pairing Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi struggling in his absence, Arsenal’s focus should be on finding a defender who can immediately slot into their side.
While Diveev is an exciting talent the Gunners should not be prioritising a move just yet, but could reach an agreement with FC Ufa that would see the teenager sign but spend the remainder of the season on loan with the Russian side – a deal that could be the best choice for his development.
