Sections of Arsenal fans desperately want to sign Maguire to boost defence

There was one Harry in the England squad that made headlines during Saturday afternoon’s World Cup quarter-final against Sweden, and it is not the obvious one.

Harry Maguire has been making a name for himself on the global stage following some impressive performances for his country in Russia.

Aside from the Belgium dead rubber, the Leicester City defender has started every England game in the tournament on the left side of a back three.

The 25-year-old has proven to manager Gareth Southgate that he was right to select him as he has been an integral figure at the back, as well as at set pieces.

Maguire opened the scoring in Saturday’s 2-0 triumph over Sweden, which sent the Three Lions into a semi-final clash against Croatia.

The defender, who joined Leicester from Hull City last year, has also created an assist in his five outings in Russia.

Unsurprisingly, some football fans are now keen to have Maguire at their club, and one group belongs to Arsenal.

The Gunners struggled defensively last season, and now some supporters believe that new manager Unai Emery should turn his attention to Maguire.
