Southampton skipper helping ramp up efforts to lure Arsenal star to the South Coast

Southampton captain Jose Fonte is trying to convince Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to rejoin the club this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The England international joined the Gunners from the South Coast outfit back in 2011 for a fee of around £11m, though has so far failed to truly develop in the way many had hoped.

Speculation in regards to his future has been rife over the past few months, as the powerful winger prepares to face what is likely to be a pivotal summer in deciding the immediate future and the complexion of his career going forward.

Moves to West Ham, Liverpool and Chelsea have been mooted, however his former skipper at Saints is reportedly doing his best to help convince the 22-year old to return.

It is said the Portuguese defender tried to lure him back to St. Mary’s during the January transfer window, though clearly that failed to materialise.

The report claims the Three Lions star would be reluctant to move to another London club out of respect for the Gunners and the good relationship he shares with the fans in North London.
