Unsurprisingly, Arsenal fans had some choice words for Tottenham during their match with Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.

Former Gunner Olivier Giroud found himself on the scoresheet to add to the already strong narrative between Jose Mourinho and Frank Lampard.

However, it was a different Frenchman who was generating a big debate among supporters of Mikel Arteta's Gunners.

They didn't take to the performance of Spurs midfielder Tanguy Ndombele as they ripped into the summer recruit on Twitter.

A host of Arsenal fans determined that he was a flop, with some going as far as to say he was the biggest of the entire season. Another individual laid into the fact that he's injury-prone.

Ndombele was dragged off just after the hour mark at Stamford Bridge and has only started ten league outings all term.

His displays have been rather indifferent, scoring two goals, so you can certainly see why he's been criticised. For a player who could end up costing Spurs £62.8m, you'd expect more.

Further fans decided to compare Ndombele to past and present Arsenal players. One described him as a French Mohamad Elneny which is rather fierce criticism given the Egyptian's poor performances at the Emirates Stadium.

The 27-year-old has never achieved an average match rating across a whole league season of higher than 6.8.

Another talking point was that of Granit Xhaka. The controversial midfielder has become a regular under Arteta and in comparison to Ndombele, has made 0.4 more tackles per outing. He's also taken fewer unsuccessful touches in comparison to the former Lyon man.

Ndombele's injury record meanwhile, drew similarities to Abou Diaby as one fan bemoaned his fitness. He has so far missed 40 days of action since arriving in north London.

Another supporter simply described Ndombele as overrated an average, bemused at the fact that Nicolas Pepe appeared to attract criticism but the former didn't.

Can you name all of these obscure Arsenal signings? Give it a go now!

For a long period of time, the Ivorian didn't look as though he'd cut the mustard in English football. He scored just once in his opening 13 Premier League matches but now looks a vastly improved player.

His two assists and a goal against Newcastle showed as much.
