Stat shows Arsenal’s draw against Bournemouth was unprecedented

Bournemouth and Arsenal met in an unbelievable encounter on Tuesday night. It was a game that will be one of the most memorable come the end of the season.

Arsenal, desperate not to fall away from the Premier League title race, dropped another two points against the Cherries but could have suffered a worse result on the night.

Bournemouth raced to a 3-0 lead and with just 25 minutes remaining, the Gunners looked dead and buried.

Step forward Alexis Sanchez. His 70th minute effort sparked an incredible fightback that ended with Olivier Giroud’s dramatic equaliser in stoppage time.

It truly was a historic comeback, as this stat from Opta shows. It was the first time Arsenal have come back to draw a Premier League game from three goals down.

The result shows that you can never really count Arsenal out, even at their worst. Gunners fans will be hoping it’s a galvanising win that can spark a sustained run of good results.

With teams around them in excellent form, they can’t afford many more slip ups without risking not qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
