A vast improvement to the defensive side to his game has made Nacho Monreal Arsenal’s resident No.3 since the start of the season.
Indeed, Arsene Wenger has favoured Monreal over Kieran Gibbs as his first choice left-back this term and the Spain international’s performances have certainly justified Le Professeur’s decision.
From his 15 Premier League outings, the 29-year-old has claimed two assists whilst averaging 2.5 tackles, 3.1 interceptions, 2.2 successful aerial duels and 3.1 clearances per match.
But Monreal was initially purchased as an attacking full-back, having impressed in that capacity at former club Malaga, and he’s blessed with all the technical quality you’d expect from a former star of La Liga – the indisputable home of tiki-taka football.
And just in case any of you Premier League fans had forgotten the more aesthetic side to the defender’s game, he’s decided to remind us all via his Twitter account, his fridge and an orange. Unbelievable tekkers from the Arsenal man.
