The five best Premier League statistics of the weekend

What a fine weekend of Premier League football – barring a not so Super Sunday – and it’s not over quite yet with Liverpool set to do battle with Manchester United at 8pm this evening.

Indeed, Chelsea kicked off the action with a 3-0 romping over Leicester in the former-champions-derby, whilst Swansea pushed Arsenal close to a shock upset in north London and Everton’s rearguard display earned them a hard-earned point against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

An impressive 22 goals have already been scored in Premier League matchday eight and we’re hoping that statistic will leave you licking your lips for more amid the quantitative-mad world the beautiful game now seemingly resides in.

With that in mind, and courtesy of our mates at Squawka, OptaJoe and BBC Sport, we’ve accumulated the five best statistics of the weekend from the Premier League. Arsenal, Watford, Sunderland, Newcastle and Everton all feature in this week’s edition.
