It’s not really too surprising that Arsenal have reportedly been linked with a move for goalkeepers on the continent. The Premier League’s offering this summer is likely to be a mix of the inconsistent and the overpriced. Stoke’s Asmir Begovic is said to fall under the latter category.
But it should be a good thing. Currently, it can be said that Germany houses the best goalkeeping talents in Europe, while Spain are not too far behind in terms of undiscovered gems.
Arsenal need quality over anything else, perhaps even ahead of experience as a counter to the youth currently in the side. It’s about correcting the poor state of the goalkeeping department regardless of age, and there’s no question that the club will be well-equipped with the funds to go out and do so this summer.
