Nicklas Bendtner must be like a parasite on Arsene Wenger’s skin that he cannot get rid of. After another pre-season transfer window of trying to offload the Danish international, Arsene Wenger is now resigned to the fact that once again he may be sticking around the Emirates like an annoying child.
If Bendtner doesn’t move on soon it is almost certain he will run down his contract in North London. Despite Wenger’s best attempts not to play him, the self-proclaimed star of world football may have to be used by the French manager due to his own lack of spending during the transfer window. Arsenal fans had better hope those Demba Ba rumours are true or that Olivier Giroud doesn’t pick up a sudden injury. You may be relying on Bendnter to fire you back into the Champions League, or even more alarmingly- guide you to a much needed trophy.
Wenger admitted ‘the chance for Nicklas to leave now is small. If he comes back and gets fit I will use him’. Perhaps a quite alarming stat for Arsenal is that Bendnter is the 2nd highest scorer at the club at present with 45 goals in his Arsenal career behind Theo Walcott’s 63. It is now over two years since Bendtner felt that he must ‘100% leave Arsenal’. Two years and counting…..two long years….
