It was all going so well for Arsenal. Following last week’s comeback win against Stoke, many were tipping Wenger’s men to finally put up a sustained battle for the league title.
What a difference a week makes. Two defeats to Everton and Manchester City have left Arsenal fans holding their heads.
Those defeats were even harder to take given that the Gunners were actually 1-0 up in both matches. Where is it going wrong? Well we have a big signifier thanks to these stats from WhoScored and Opta.
Arsenal’s defence is all at sea and it needs to improve drastically if they’re to have any sort of success this season.
Not only have Wenger’s side now gone an incredible 12 games without a clean sheet in all competitions, conceding in the last 8 Premier League games means that Petr Cech is going through a historical low in his career.
The big Czech keeper has never gone as long in his Premier League career without keeping at least one clean sheet. That’s quite incredible when you consider he’s getting close to making 400 Premier League appearances. It also shows just how dismal this defensive run is for Arsenal.
They have to improve quickly.
