Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Ian Wright, Robin van Persie… Theo Walcott?
Walcott’s name is not one you’d immediately associate with these Arsenal legends but his goalscoring record tells a different story as this stat from Opta shows.
The Arsenal attacker has had an up and down relationship with Gunners fans over the years, sometimes going through spells of lacklustre performances and at others showing the ability everyone always thought he was capable of as a teenager.
He’s going through one of those hot streaks right now and has scored 11 goals for Arsenal this season. The latest, against Manchester City, puts him at 5th on the list of Arsenal’s leading goal-scorers in the Premier League.
His neat finish past Bravo was his 63rd Premier League goal meaning he’s now surpassed Robert Pires and is just 24 away from Dennis Bergkamp. You wouldn’t put it past him getting that amount given there’s no sign of him leaving the club.
In the hustle and bustle of week-to-week action sometimes fans don’t truly appreciate what they have and perhaps when Walcott’s time at Arsenal comes to an end he will be looked on more fondly as he is, especially if he moves up the list of all-time Premier League goal-scorers.
