The Premier League campaign so far has been as sensational as always, and it's reached the stage where clubs will be looking to make additions to boost their title and European chances, or to avoid the drop.

Transfer windows have definitely been useful for Arsenal in recent seasons with stars like Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Petr Cech being brought in. This term the Gunners have so far made decent signings with Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez all making good contributions, but there is space for a few more.

The London club are currently 5th, eight points behind leaders Chelsea, and it is looking increasingly likely that they will miss out on the league title yet again this term.

With that in mind, Arsene Wenger will surely be looking at players to boost his squad and make a late surge, but which issues and areas need addressing?

Well, here are THREE...

Back-up for Bellerin

It's no longer news that Hector Bellerin is one of the best right-backs in world football, with his quality on and off the ball being shown on numerous occasions.

But the Gunners struggled to replace the Spaniard when he was ruled out through injury in November, with Carl Jenkinson doing little in his absence and Mathieu Debuchy no longer a viable option after injuries. Wenger had to make do with the services of Brazilian defender Gabriel at full back, and, to his credit, he performed well.

With the Gunners being linked with a move for Porto full-back Ricardo Periera, it shows the ex-Monaco boss is not satisfied with the situation.

World class talent needed out wide

In the past, Arsenal had the likes of Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg on the wings - players who could really influence games. This term, Wenger has placed his trust in the ever-present Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alex Iwobi and the world-class Alexis Sanchez.

With the exception of the Chilean, who has been fantastic wherever he has been played this term, the others have put in decent shifts, but haven't established themselves as difference-makers in the team, and have to be more consistent to be considered top class.

Because of this, Wenger's men have been found wanting in the important games and are in need of true world class options.

Big game players needed

The Gunners, as we all know, are blessed with an embarrassment of talented players capable of destroying any side. But, as Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson so often says, Arsenal are the best team in the world when playing under no pressure.

And as we have seen in the past, the north Londoners fail to deliver when all eyes are fixed on them. The big games have been Arsenal's greatest problem and so often they have been found wanting, as the stats show -they've won just ten of their last 60 away games against eventual top six finishers in the last ten years.

So far, the Gunners have won only one of the six games they have played against the top six this term - the 3-0 victory over Chelsea - and have lost two. It is clear that if Wenger is to have a chance of winning the league title that has eluded his team since 2003/04, he need players able to deal with winning against big rivals.
