If you're the kind of guy who likes a flutter, you'd probably put your mortgage on Arsenal beating Sunderland during Saturday's lunchtime kickoff in the Premier League.

Indeed, all the evidence points towards a resounding Gunners win. The Black Cats haven't beaten the north Londoners in their last six attempts and are currently rock bottom of the Premier League table, picking up just two points from nine games.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are separated from the division's summit by goal difference alone, sitting just one strike behind title favourites Manchester City.

But the beauty of football lays in its unpredictability and despite their woeful start to the season, we at Football FanCast reckon this could be the weekend Sunderland turn their woeful campaign around - in the form of a shock result at the Stadium of Light.

Are we crazy, are we stupid? Perhaps. But there is some logic to our seemingly audacious claim...

Arsenal results flattering their form

Arsene Wenger angry

On paper, it's hard to dispute Arsenal's fantastic run. They've not lost a game in any competition since the opening day of the season and had it not been for that scoreless draw with Middlesbrough last weekend, they would be amid an eight-game winning stretch.

But look a little closer at the score lines, and it's not as if Arsenal have been completely running away with it. Indeed, they could only beat Burnley and Swansea by a single goal, making a right pig's ear of the latter win, and couldn't even find the net against Boro at home.

That suggests Arsenal's results are flattering them a little - and hints at an intrinsic weakness against those scrapping for their lives at the foot of the Premier League table.

Moyes' record vs Arsenal

Dijon FCO v Sunderland - Pre Season Friendly

To say David Moyes boasts a fantastic record against Arsenal would be somewhat hyperbolic, but it's not too bad either considering he never finished above the Gunners throughout his spells in charge of Everton and Manchester United.

Indeed, the Scot has claimed four wins and seven draws from 25 outings against the Gunners, meaning he's claimed at least a point on almost half the occasions he's faced them.

That may not seem so astounding, especially considering Sunderland's team is inferior in quality to the aforementioned clubs. But the real positive is Moyes' experience against Arsenal; he knows their inherent flaws and how to capitalise on them.

Jermain Defoe and Jordan Pickford give them half a chance

Jermain Defoe

Sunderland maintaining their Premier League status will largely depend on the form of Jermain Defoe, whose goals under Sam Allardyce fired them to safety last season.

The veteran striker may have just turned 34 but few Premier League front-men possess his poacher's instincts in the box and he gives the Black Cats half a chance of winning any fixture. Still very much a Tottenham boy at heart, Defoe will be determined to get on the scoresheet against the Gunners.

It's a similar case with Jordan Pickford, albeit without the north London loyalty. The rookie goalie is by no means the finished article and occasional mistakes have let him down this season. But the 22-year-old has already proved he's a brilliant shot-stopper and if he and Defoe play to their maximum on Saturday, the Gunners may find themselves on the receiving end of a shock defeat.
