Olivier Giroud believes that his Arsenal side can still overhaul Chelsea and Manchester City to claim the Premier League title this season, although it may mean they have to win all of their remaining games.
The Gunners are English football’s form team at the moment and have been on a blistering run of form in 2015, which has shifted the emphasis from breaking into the top four to potentially challenging for the big prize.
Eight wins on the bounce leaves the Londoners a point behind Man City in second spot and seven off leaders Chelsea – although the Blues have a game in hand.
However, Giroud – who scooped the Player of the Month award for March – believes that his side have a genuine chance of competing for the title:
“We want to finish strongly, we need to focus on our game first and if we succeed to win all of our remaining eight games maybe we can have a look at the Chelsea and City results.” He is quoted by Sky Sports.
“Yes [we can win the title] but it will be difficult, I try to be honest, I believe we need to win every game. Let’s win every game and then see their results.
“If they win all their games, their destiny is in their hands. We know what we have to do and we want to keep it up.”
Arsenal host fifth-placed Liverpool on Saturday, with the Reds having been in excellent form prior to their loss at home to Manchester United last time out.
