Truly awful: Arsenal fans weren’t happy with Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ performance

Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to voice their displeasure at Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ performance against Everton, as the Gunners slipped to a 1-0 defeat and damaged their top four hopes in the process.

Unai Emery’s side were undone by an early strike from Phil Jagielka, and didn’t look like scoring throughout the rest of the match.

A number of players performed poorly, but Maitland-Niles’ showing was especially bad – at one point, he even inexplicably threw the ball straight out of play from a throw-in.

The youngster was given a torrid time by Bernard on the flank, and struggled to make any kind of impact on the game both defensively and going forward.

He very nearly made a huge error when his headed back-pass to Bernd Leno didn’t have enough on it and was intercepted by Bernard, but the Brazilian couldn’t finish the chance.
