Victory at the Nou Camp was always going to be a long shot for Arsenal this evening.
From 200 outings in the Champions League, Arsene Wenger has never claimed a win at Barcelona’s home ground, let alone one that would be able to cancel out the Gunners’ 2-0 deficit from the first leg at the Emirates earlier this month.
To make matters worse, the Catalans appear to be oceans ahead of their domestic and continental rivals at the moment, with that incredible front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar firing on all cylinders – not to mention the midfield mastery from Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets.
The Gunners were always up against it but started the match positively enough with a couple of chances at Marc-Andre Ter Stegen’s goal and plenty of energy in midfield.
Unfortunately, however, any momentum the north London outfit gained was quickly eliminated by an 18th minute strike from Neymar, who predictably converted a fast-paced attacking move with neat side-footed finish.
With not even the first half over yet, Twitter is already fearing the worst for the Premier League side.
Arsenal are going to get massacred by Barca here.
