Olivier Giroud went in to this afternoon's clash with Aston Villa having almost single handedly secured Arsenal's place in the Champions League knock-out stages with a hat-trick against Olympiakos earlier in the week.

And the Frenchman needed just one more Premier League goal to make it 50 in the top-flight for the Gunners - from just 113 appearances. So when Theo Walcott was felled in the penalty area within just eight minutes of the game at Villa Park, it was no surprise to see him step up to claim his milestone goal.

Giroud made no mistake by sending Villa stopper Brad Guzan the wrong way to continue his run of scoring for a fifth consecutive game and to bring up the big 50 in his Gunners Premier League career.

And as expected, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to react to their hero striker's milestone goal from the penalty spot and the Gunners' early 1-0 lead against the division's basement club...
