Arsenal went behind to AS Monaco in tonight’s Champions League goal thanks to a deflected shot from Geoffrey Kondogbia. While his shot did take a big deflection off Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker, the midfielder was given a acres of space in which to run at the Arsenal defence.
However, perhaps more culable was Arsenal keeper David Ospina, who stayed rooted to the spot as the ball flew past him.
The biggest disappointment for manager Arsene Wenger will be the manner in which his side played in the opening half of this Champions League last-16 tie. Arsenal were languid throughout, never looking up for the fight, and playing more like a side in pre-season than one that is supposedly gunning for a place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite competition.
Before tonight’s game, Arsenal hadn’t conceded a single goal at the Emirates in three Champions League games against French opposition. That record wasn’t to last though.
Here are some of the reactions that best sum up Arsenal tonight:
I know that Kondogbia strike had taken a deflection but the resulting shot ended up close enough to Ospina to expect him to react quicker

Arsenal are a joke. The resources, the players they have and that's the best they can do. Monaco not exactly Real Madrid but deserve lead.

Arsenal have been dreadful, the atmosphere is shocking too

If Ozil is worth £42m I'm the Pope…another exceptionally poor half from the German World Cup winner tonight
