Playmaker FC’s Natalie Polycarpou met former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas for an exclusive interview discussing the North London derby recently, and the now 35-year-old admitted that he would have chosen to sign for Arsenal over Spurs had the Gunners come in for him in 2005.
Jenas made the move to Tottenham, then managed by Martin Jol, on deadline day in the summer of 2005. The fee was £7m for an extremely promising young English talent, and the Nottingham-born midfielder went on to make 202 appearances for the club.
Here though, Jenas admits that he would have signed for Arsenal to play under Arsene Wenger and alongside Thierry Henry if he had had the choice.
