Wenger eyeing two world-class attackers after Arsenal’s latest collapse

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is eyeing up Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez and in-form Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports from Le 10 Sport.

The north London club were among the favourites for the Premier League title at the turn of the year, but their season has somewhat collapsed over the last month or so with poor results having seen them slip adrift of the leaders, while also getting eliminated from both the FA Cup and Champions League.

However, reports claim that Wenger is ready to react, with Mahrez and Aubameyang two of his favoured options.

The former may well be his top target with claims that a ‘concrete offer’ will be made in the coming weeks, with the Algerian having been excellent for table-topping Leicester this term.

His 16 goals and 11 assists in league action have made him the favourite to scoop the PFA Player of the Year award, and it remains to be seen if Champions League qualification will be enough to keep him at the King Power Stadium.

Aubameyang is also wanted.

The Gabon international is one of Europe’s standout goalscorers this term, with his 23 Bundesliga goals the sixth highest return of any player in any of Europe’s top five leagues.
