Wenger hints at big Sanchez deal

Arsenal fans will have been concerned by a lack of progress in the Gunners’ quest to tie Alexis Sanchez down to a new contract but their boss had some positive comments following yesterday’s 3-1 victory over Bournemouth.

The Chilean maestro scored twice in Arsenal’s victory over the Cherries, taking his Premier League tally to eight and hitting double figures overall for the season, as he helped Arsene Wenger’s side return to winning ways and keep pace with the leaders in the league.

Arsenal remain three points behind Chelsea, extending their advantage over fifth-placed Tottenham to four points, and Wenger stated after the match that he’s prepared to spend big to keep Alexis at the club.

‘It is important. How important it is, I don’t know. We will not sort it tonight. We have some time in front of us. You (the media) like us to spend money, so you should be happy!’

The Gunners host Southampton in the EFL Cup on Wednesday before clashing with West Ham United in the Premier League this weekend.
