The Gunners gaffer wants to sign a superstar striker and the Poland international, who boasts 67 goals in 100 appearances for the Bavarians, is at the top of his transfer hit list.
Arsenal have already held discussions about signing the 27-year-old but should they miss out, which seems more than likely, Wenger will turn his attentions to Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann.
The France international has claimed 57 goals in 107 outings for the Mattress Makers and also finished up as top scorer during the summer’s European Championship.
His contract is known to include an £85.5million release clause but The Sun suggest either front-man could be available for a figure closer to £60million.
The British tabloid quote an Emirates source as saying; “Arsene is willing to spend on a striker this summer, but only for the right man. He has his targets and players he thinks will improve the squad, but this could go down to the wire.”
Should Arsenal fail to land either striker, Wenger is expected to focus on Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette.
