Arsenal winger Theo Walcott is yet to sign a new deal in North London, but boss Arsene Wenger believes giving him a more central attacking role could convince him to stay.
Walcott has been offered a new contract at the Emirates, but with too much competition for places, it is thought that he may now look for a move away when his current deal expires in the summer.
However, Wenger has said that he will possibly give the 23-year-old a chance to play in his preferred centre forward position in order to convince him to stay.
Wenger said: “I don’t know (on Walcott). I have no set date in my mind but I will try it.”
The Arsenal boss is also confident of Walcott signing the new deal at the Emirates but they are currently no nearer to agreeing the deal than before.
“No progress is good progress,” Wenger added.
