New Arsenal manager Unai Emery has told Jack Wilshere that he is not a major part of his plans for his maiden season in charge at the Emirates Stadium, according to the Daily Mirror.

What's the story, then?

The Mirror report that a £110,000 per week deal has been offered to Wilshere but he has been told that he will not be a regular starter under the former Paris Saint-Germain boss.

They claim that has made Wilshere consider his future at his boyhood club, with Crystal Palace among the clubs who are in the hunt if he does finally make the decision to depart this summer.

They go on to say that current Palace boss Roy Hodgson was a huge fan of Wilshere during their time together with England, which could tip the balance.

Emery must keep Wilshere

The debate about how good Wilshere is will rage on and on, especially given his injury record, but he is a valuable asset to Emery and should not be allowed to leave for free.

He is one of the few players who has the requisite desire and tenacity that the club's fans demand and Emery will require in order to drag the North London club back towards the top of English football.

Letting him leave would be an unpopular decision with the fans and there are other players who have contributed less over Wenger's reign who should be allowed to leave first.
