Arsenal’s season has endured a collapse in the past week after the Gunners suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League to Everton and Manchester City, leaving Arsene Wenger’s side nine points behind leaders Chelsea.
Having taken the lead against both of those opponents but ended the games empty-handed, Arsenal have come under a wealth of criticism and a shoddy second-half display against the Citizens last week was the last straw for many supporters.
One of the stars criticised for his display was Arsenal’s most expensive signing, Mesut Ozil, who was a passenger throughout the duration of the defeat to Manchester City and looked a far-cry of the player he has been this season.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright does not doubt the German World Cup winner’s ability but he wants to see a response in the coming weeks.
Ian Wright: "Mesut Ozil in particular has come in for tons of stick and there has got to be a reaction. We all know the quality he’s got." pic.twitter.com/YuJf2DG1PR
