Aston Villa and Hull City enter race to sign former Premier League striker

Aston Villa and Hull City have both made enquiries over the possibilities of signing former Chelsea striker Demba Ba, the Daily Mail reports.

The 29-year-old only is currently at Besiktas, having completed a move away from Stamford Bridge during the summer.

But with Villa’s inability to find the net on more than one occasion this season, Paul Lambert is eyeing the services of the proven finisher given his 14 goals in 20 appearances for the Turkish side.

Elsewhere, Hull manager Steve Bruce is looking to avoid a relegation battle by adding to his front line as he is still without Nikica Jelavic and Abel Hernandez.

The two attackers are still a doubt for this team’s weekend clash against Newcastle United with the pair of them still suffering from previous injuries.

The Senegalese striker made the move to join the Blues after an impressive season with the Magpies, scoring 16 goals in 32 starts in his debut campaign.

However, his current £80,000-a-week deal in Turkey could be a major setback in the potential move for the attacker if the interested parties are not able to meet his wage demands.
