Gabby Agbonlahor is expected to be reinstated to the Aston Villa starting XI for Monday’s crucial clash with Manchester United.
The England striker missed last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Fulham because of a groin injury but is expected to pass a fitness test ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.
“Gabby’s been playing really well for us,” said Lambert. “His speed’s a threat, everybody will know that. He’s definitely a threat with his pace if he does take the field of play.”
Charles N’Zogbia started in place of Agbonlahor last Saturday and capped a fine performance with a goal against the Cottagers so could retain his place in Lambert’s team, with Jordan Bowery potentially making way.
Villa are still without Chris Herd, Marc Albrighton, Richard Dunne and Gary Gardner, who are all expected to miss the run-in to the end of the season.
