Arsenal, Liverpool & Man United targets won’t leave Villa

Aston Villa chief Randy Lerner is ready to reject any moves for star duo Ron Vlaar and Fabian Delph in January, even though both players’ contracts are up at the end of the season, according to reports from The Telegraph.

The centre-back and holding midfielder are seen as two of the Villains’ top names, with Arsenal and Manchester United watching the former, while the latter is wanted by Liverpool.

Villa are believed to be attempting to secure new deal to keep the pair, but, as it stands, the duo could leave the Midlands for nothing next summer.

This has led to talk of cut-price sales in the New Year, with the interested clubs keen to get deals in place.

But Villa chairman Lerner is keen to ensure that both stay as he plots to sell the club.

A spokesperson said: “The club has made a strong offer to Fabian to keep him at Villa beyond this season and our clear desire would be that he remains at the club.

“He and our medical team are working hard to expedite his return to action, ideally before the end of this year, so he can continue to contribute over the remainder of the season.”

Vlaar has also been offered a new deal.
